An Iranian passenger processing system goes live at Imam Khomeini Airport

State broadcaster IRIB reports on the domestically built check-in and departure system now running in place of a foreign platform at IKIA.

Passenger acceptance and departure at a large international terminal has, for most of its history, run on software licensed from a handful of vendors outside the country. Imam Khomeini International Airport now runs it on a system built in Iran.

In a report by IRIB News, the knowledge-based company Arvin Arvand Tav is credited with designing a passenger acceptance and departure system of a kind that had previously been the preserve of foreign suppliers — and with putting it into service at IKIA.

What makes the change substantial is not that the software was replaced, but who the airport can now call. A common-use platform sits underneath every airline working the terminal: when it stops, check-in stops. Owning that layer domestically means the airport sets its own upgrade path, holds its own operational data, and gets support in its own time zone.

The system has since been in continuous operation at the terminal, serving international and Iranian carriers from shared counters and gate positions.

In the interview above, the company's managing director sets out how the platform was developed and what it changed for the airport.
